Swimming Pool Maintenance Tips
If your water is cloudy and green you have algae  in your pool water.  Algae itself is not harmful but the bacteria that
feeds on it is so having algae in the pool is not healthy and should be dealt with promptly.

When algae is present then chlorine levels are probably way to low causing the algae to proliferate.
If algae is present use shock with non-stabilised chlorine to kill the algae.
If you cannot see the bottom of the pool then do a shock treatment with non-stabilised chlorine to kill the algae at 25
ppm.  If you see a slight green tint in the pool then do a shock treatment with non-stabilised chlorine to kill the algae at
10 ppm. Thoroughly remove algae from all pool surfaces, wait 24 hours and then backwash to clear out the dead
algae.  You can then use a water clarifier to remove haziness from the water.

Prevent algae from returning by maintaining proper chlorine levels in the pool and use an algaecide regularly if algae
tends to be a problem in your pool. If you are only using stabilised chlorine then the algae will take longer to kill allowing
the algae to get out of control again so use non-stabilised chlorine to reduce algae problems.
